These upgraded standards introduce a unified framework for the container shipping industry, aiming to improve interoperability, streamline communication, and boost efficiency. Notably, the new electronic Bill of Lading (eBL) now incorporates a digital signature, and more than 190 new attributes have been added to the Shipping Instructions. These updates are designed to support the Import Control System 2 (ICS2), the EU's new advance manifest requirement for cargo entering or passing through the EU, Norway, Switzerland, or Northern Ireland.

Thomas Bagge, CEO of DCSA, expressed his excitement about the release, stating: “We are thrilled to launch the final versions of our Booking and Bill of Lading standards, ensuring seamless data exchange across all industry participants. These advancements will not only cut costs through automation and reduced manual processing but also lay the groundwork for a more interoperable and efficient global shipping ecosystem.”
