Shipster’s technology focuses on extracting and structuring key data from shipping documents such as statements of facts, letters of indemnity, and bills of lading, as well as generating handover instructions.
The acquisition aligns with Marcura’s strategy to expand its use of AI in automating document-heavy processes, allowing maritime professionals to focus on decision-making. Marcura aims to integrate AI-powered solutions into daily maritime operations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
This deal follows Marcura’s recent acquisition of UK-based HubSE, a tanker demurrage claims automation provider. HubSE’s expertise in oil and chemical tanker claims has been incorporated into Marcura Claims, formerly known as ClaimsHub.
Marcura has been expanding its portfolio in recent years. Last month, it acquired maritime software provider VesselMan from Skagerak Capital, and previously, it purchased the online procurement platform ShipServ.
