Norway to Continue Fuel Supply to U.S. Navy Despite Company Halt

Norway's Defence Minister Tore Sandvik confirmed on Sunday that the country will continue supplying fuel to U.S. Navy ships, despite a call from the private Norwegian fuel supplier Haltbakk Bunkers to stop such deliveries.

This request came after a recent dispute involving U.S.-Ukrainian relations, specifically concerning the treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the White House on Friday.

Sandvik stated that concerns raised by the fuel supplier were not in line with Norway's government policy. "American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway," he said.

Haltbakk Bunkers had announced on social media that it would halt fuel supplies to U.S. Navy vessels, citing dissatisfaction with the U.S.'s actions towards Ukraine.

The company’s CEO, Gunnar Gran, clarified that the decision would not have a significant impact, as the company does not have a fixed contract with the U.S. military.

The company has not responded to Reuters' request for further comments.
