Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company to Auction Deepsea Fleet for Restructuring

The state-owned Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) has announced the auction of its entire deepsea fleet in a move to streamline operations and focus on modernizing its river fleet.

The six small dry bulk vessels will be auctioned as a single lot on December 13. Among them, the Vilkovo and Izmail are ready for immediate service, while the remaining four ships – Tatarbunar, Viana do Castelo, Kiliya, and Reni – have been out of operation for years. UDP, founded in 1944 to transport troops and equipment during World War II, is now shifting its strategic focus to river transport.
