Launched in May 2024, the platform has already shown significant progress, including the successful registration of new ships, the digital issuance of nationality documents, and the acceleration of administrative processes for the shipping industry.

Since the system's launch, 21 new ocean-going vessels have been added to the Greek registry, with 19 of these registrations completed digitally. In addition, 37 Digital Nationality Documents have been issued electronically for various transactions, such as transfers and re-measurements.

Moreover, four additional ships are in the final stages of registration, demonstrating the platform’s ongoing functionality and development.

Shipping companies can now complete registration applications entirely online, receiving the Nationality Document through the platform. This document is issued in a modern digital format, featuring a QR code for instant verification.

Since March 2025, the following features have entered pilot implementation and will soon be fully operational:

  • Digital issuance of Measurement Certificates and Telecommunications Station Licenses.
  • Electronic applications for Nationality Documents following re-measurements or final measurements, eliminating the need for physical service visits.
  • Full digital management of ship transfers through online applications.

Further enhancements to the niologio.gov.gr platform are planned, including:

  • Electronic registration and removal of mortgages, with automatic updates of the ship’s share.
  • Digital applications for the deletion of ships from the registry, fully automating the ship deletion process.

These ongoing improvements are set to make the Greek shipping registry more attractive, efficient, transparent, and reliable, benefiting the entire shipping community. The digital overhaul also aims to foster a more streamlined and modern environment for shipping companies, boosting the competitiveness of the Greek flag.
