The vessel, which will be built by ST Engineering Marine in Singapore for an oil and gas company, is based on the Kongsberg Maritime UT 5520 design and will measure 97 meters in length. It will accommodate up to 106 personnel and feature a motion-compensated gangway, ensuring safe and efficient transfer of crew between the vessel and offshore installations.

This new design represents an evolution of Kongsberg Maritime’s broad portfolio of offshore vessel solutions. Building on the success of the UT5519DE commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) deployed on offshore wind projects in the North Sea, the UT 5520 design is specifically tailored for oil and gas operations. Notably, it offers an extended operational range, with endurance of up to nine weeks away from shore—far exceeding the CSOV industry standard of four weeks.

“We are thrilled to have been selected by ST Engineering Marine to provide our cutting-edge UT 5520 vessel design and a wide range of Kongsberg Maritime technology for this new vessel,” said Per Kristian Furø, Sales Director of Ship Design at Kongsberg Maritime. “Our design teams have leveraged decades of offshore experience to create a vessel that is optimized for long-duration offshore operations, where efficiency, operational reliability, safety, and crew comfort are paramount.”

The vessel is slated for completion in the first half of 2027.
