The company will hold an 80% equity stake in the venture, which involves the construction of two 7,500 cbm semi-refrigerated LPG carriers, with an option for two additional vessels. The first ship is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2027, while the second is expected in the fourth quarter of the same year.
Diana Shipping currently operates a fleet of 37 dry bulk vessels, including 4 Newcastlemax, 8 Capesize, 4 Post-Panamax, 6 Kamsarmax, 6 Panamax, and 9 Ultramax units.
The company is also set to receive two methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carriers, each with a capacity of 81,200 dwt, by the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028. These vessels, ordered in February 2024, are valued at $46 million each.
Excluding the new buildings, Diana Shipping’s fleet has a total carrying capacity of approximately 4.1 million dwt, with an average age of 11.39 years.
The company primarily operates its vessels on short- to medium-term time charters, transporting various dry bulk cargoes on global trade routes.
