According to Greek shipbroking firms, the sale price of Haris is reported to be US$31 million. The vessel was constructed at Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China and is currently under charter to French shipping giant CMA CGM.
This sale marks the second transaction involving a 2015-built, Greek-owned feeder vessel in recent months. Earlier this year, Riviera reported that Cape Shipping sold Cape Monterey to CMA CGM, and the vessel has since been renamed CNC Padma and integrated into CMA CGM's fleet.
Eastmed, a prominent Greek shipping firm, has been actively involved in the secondhand container vessel market. Last year, the company took delivery of Chance, a 2024-built, 1,868-TEU vessel, in a resale deal. Eastmed had also been linked to the purchase of another 2023-built feeder vessel two years ago.
Fleet Overview
Eastmed operates one of Greece's largest shipping fleets, managing approximately 80 vessels, including tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships. The container segment currently consists of around 12 vessels.
The company is also expanding its fleet with newbuildings, including a program for four Ultramax bulk carriers in China, set for delivery in 2026.
Thanassis Martinos, the CEO of Eastmed, recently received the Greek Shipping Leadership Award at the annual Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum. In his speech, he discussed the impact of recent geopolitical challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Red Sea crisis, on maritime trade. He also touched on the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industry, noting that despite technological advancements, even AI couldn't predict the sector's recent challenges.
