The vessel,Pavel Grabovskıy , was carrying 3,000 tons of corn when the incident occurred on February 16.
The 46-year-old ship was en route from Rostov to Samsun, Turkey, when it sustained significant hull damage, causing it to take on water.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Russia's aging merchant fleet, which has struggled to secure international supplies and management since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago. In recent months, the fleet has experienced several accidents, including a series of tanker disasters in the Kerch Strait in mid-December. That same month, the Russian general cargo ship Ursa Major sank in the Mediterranean Sea between Spain and Algeria.
