PORT FLOT – BURGAS has been active in the maritime sector at Burgas Port for over 35 years, providing round-the-clock towage services with a fleet of five tugs. The company operates across the 41 km-wide Bay of Burgas, which includes shipyards, an oil port, Port Bulgaria West, BMF Port Burgas, KRZ Port, and the Nessebar passenger port.
Dimitar Hristov, CEO of PORT FLOT – BURGAS, highlighted the investment’s importance, saying: "This investment strengthens our commitment to providing modern and reliable towage services. Our partnership with SANMAR reflects our readiness to meet the evolving needs of the maritime sector."
The new tugboat will be 24.4 meters long, with a beam of 12 meters, a moulded depth of 4.5 meters, and a navigational draft of 5.45 meters. Powered by twin Z-drive, diesel engines, the vessel will meet IMO Tier III emission standards and provide a minimum bollard pull of 70 tons. It will also achieve a free-running speed of 12 knots and accommodate a crew of six. The tug's fuel capacity will be 77,900 liters, along with 11,500 liters of potable water and a 7,700-liter foam tank.
Designed for ship-handling, coastal towing, and general-purpose operations, the Boğaçay Series tugs offer enhanced stability and performance due to their wide beam. The BOĞAÇAY LXXXI is scheduled for delivery in August 2025.
Rüçhan Çıvgın, Commercial Director at SANMAR, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stating: "We are pleased that PORT FLOT – BURGAS has selected us for this project. The performance and versatility of our Boğaçay Series continue to make it a preferred choice. We appreciate Arena Offshore’s support during negotiations and look forward to a long-term partnership with PORT FLOT – BURGAS."
