Wah Kwong and CIMC ENRIC Partner on Green Methanol Bunkering in Asia

Hong Kong-based shipowner Wah Kwong has joined forces with Chinese clean energy producer CIMC ENRIC to develop green methanol bunkering solutions in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and across Asia.

Announcing the partnership, the companies said they are “proud to forge a strategic partnership” to advance “green methanol bunkering applications, logistics, and bunkering services” in the region. A signing ceremony was held in Shenzhen on February 26 to formalize the collaboration.

Describing the initiative as a “first-of-its-kind collaboration in the clean fuel sector,” Wah Kwong and CIMC ENRIC said the project will combine the latter’s renewable fuel supply with Wah Kwong’s expertise in “safe delivery to customers.”

The partners also plan to establish a pilot green methanol bunkering operation within the GBA, working alongside other stakeholders in the industry. “Together with partners across the value chain, we aim to develop a sustainable and efficient bunkering network,” they said.

Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited operates and co-owns a fleet of modern mid- to large-sized bulk carriers, tankers, and small pressurized LPG carriers through joint ventures. The fleet has an average age of approximately four years and is primarily employed on time charters to major companies in global commodity and raw material transportation.
